If facing the paper, your thought is 'I am an artist', you have no clue what to do. If the concepts of your function are, 'I am a shape maker, an entertainer, an expressive symbol collector'...then you have an explicit road map. Edgar Whitney

love letter #1

I felt the lack of simple things today,
of animating when I tell them aloud to you.

It was a breezy sunny spring afternoon and the poets
told this day like an abacus bead,

I buried my face in sun-clean towels
the day captured in the cotton.

  1. The couplet structure is perfect for this short poem. The first and third stanzas are powerful, especially the first. Its opening verse creates a nice tension between the visceral and existential nature of human existence. Simply a wonderful poem.
